Hello! I’m Michelle Hamilton and I’m running for State Assembly District 55. Above all objectives, I’m looking forward to carrying our voices to Sacramento to fight for our shared values! On the heels of wrapping up my 30-year career as a civil servant, I’m looking forward to carrying my knowledge and experience into my next chapter: taking on the challenges we face as Californians. We are living in extraordinary times where we are challenged in many ways that affect each of us individually and collectively. My life experience of having managed departments with million-dollar budgets, developed and implemented policy, but more importantly, carrying a badge and gun to protect others, all the while never abusing that authority or forgetting who I served. I want to couple my knowledge and experience with community input and support to address the unique challenges we currently face:
-Promoting equity for all -Implementing policies to ensure workplaces are safe and free from harassment -Advocating for affordable and accessible healthcare -Supporting efforts to protect our environment - Ensuring fiscal transparency within California State's infrastructure systems
I’ll level with you: I never saw myself running for political office; I haven’t been nursing a political career since I was a child. But I see now more than ever that the challenges I’ve overcome in life have prepared me for this next chapter. Can I hit the ground running on day one? Absolutely!
But I can’t be the only one that’s answering the call to serve. I’ll need your support as partners. Call your family and friends! Knock on a few doors! If you have the means, donate some of your time or money! By bringing our collective efforts together, we can win this race.
